Agentic, normal, and wrapped
A wrapped agentic NFT is an older NFT that a second contract points at. The art stays in the original token. The agent card is added beside it. That is different from a collection designed as an agent from day one.
| Can it… | Normal NFT | Agentic NFT | Wrapped, agentic-enabled NFT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Show a picture and traits | Yes | Yes | Yes. The picture usually stays on the inner token. |
| Be sold on a normal marketplace | Yes | Yes, if it is still an ERC-721 | You often sell the wrapper, or unwrap first. Buyers must know which one they are buying. |
| Have a public agent number | No, unless a later standard is added | Yes. ERC-8004 mints the identity as the NFT, or binds one to it. | Yes, if the wrapper registers an ERC-8004 id or an ERC-8171 link. |
| Carry a soul other apps can read | Only if the project stored text somewhere | Often, as ERC-8048 notes or a registration file | Only if the wrapper writes those notes. The inner token may stay silent. |
| Move private memory with the sale | No | Only if it implements something like ERC-7857 and the proof is valid | Only if the wrapper implements that proof. Most wrappers do not. |
| Own a wallet | Optional, via ERC-6551 | Common, via ERC-6551 or a payment address on the agent card | The wrapper can own the wallet. Assets in that wallet follow the wrapper, not the inner art, unless you design it that way. |
| Keep reputation after a sale | No standard reputation | ERC-8004 feedback is tied to the agent id, so it travels with that token | Reputation sticks to the wrapper’s agent id. Unwrap and you may leave it behind. |
| Keep your ChatGPT history | Not onchain | No. Chat logs stay in your AI account. | Same. The wrapper does not export your chats. |
| Clear the payment wallet on sale | Not applicable | ERC-8004 clears agentWallet on transfer until the new owner proves a new one | Depends on the wrapper. Do not assume the inner token’s approvals died. |
| Be used as a pet today | Only as a picture you describe yourself | Yes, if the project publishes a prompt | Yes, if the wrapper publishes a prompt. The original collection may not know about it. |
